Military-technical Cooperation of Russia and other Countries: State, Problems and Prospects
Abstract
The article examines the current state of military-technical cooperation (MTC) between Russia and other countries. MTC is the demonstration of foreign policy aimed at ensuring national security in different regions. The main direction of MTC is purchases and sales of military products. During 40 years of the Cold War, the USSR was the world largest producer and exporter of weapons. This position as the largest exporter of weapons has been partly lost in 90s due to the crisis in the Russian economy and the lack of the Government support for defense industries. During the last 10 years, MTC between Russia and other countries has signifi cantly intensifi ed. However, there are many problems yet directly related to development and manufacturing of weapons, as well as to promotion of Russian weapons at the world markets. At the same time, growing over the past years Government’s defense order and re-adopted program of the national army development are very promising for the
solution of the problems.
