Economic Diplomacy in Political Crisis
Abstract
The political crisis of 2014, triggered by local as it seemed at the initial stage, conflict between the government of Ukraine and the discontent of the population situation in the country, has grown into a global crisis and again with special urgency placed on the agenda the problem of political diplomacy as a tool of promotion of stronger partner’s interests and its intervention in the economy and politics of weaker as well as the use of economic instruments to achieve political goals. This raises the problem of the traditional and the new interpretation of the concept of economic diplomacy and its role in exacerbating or resolving political conflicts. The particular importance, this problem has taken in the light of Russia’s economic development and its place in the modern world. The lessons of modern political and economic crisis can serve as a solid foundation to prevent distructive actions of all actors involved in the conflict. Refs 18.
