The Influence of Сrises on Changes of National Production Structure
Abstract
Major objective and subjective factors influencing the national production structure are revealed in the article. Special importance is given to the phenomena of economic crises. Th e distinction between the nature of cyclical and structural crises is formulated. Examples of 19th century economic crises in the context of their influence on production structure are demonstrated. A very specific role in the Western economies belongs to the 1974–1975 economic crisis during which the priority of the service sector has become obvious. Th e further development of this trend is explicitly confirmed by numerous contemporary empirical data available. As for Russia, the trend mentioned began to develop vividly starting from the middle of 1990s; this is explicitly demonstrated in the article using the data concerning share in GDP and quantity of employees of the service sector.
