Foreign Direct Investments of China: Dominating Trends and Prospects for the World Economy
Abstract
The paper provides an overview of the trends of outward direct investments from China, their sectoral and regional distribution, and the modes of implementation. The impact of the current global economic crisis on FDI outflows from China is examined. Proceeding from the J. Dunning’s eclectic paradigm of international production (OLI), and motivation of Chinese FDI investors are analyzed. Main differences in FDI motivation between Chinese companies, on the one hand, and the Western corporations and TNCs from other rapidly developing economies, on the other hand, are highlighted.
