Comparative Analysis of Concentration Indicators Application: Case of Russian Banking Sector

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis and evaluation of competitive environment using some indicators of market concentration. The analysis of the key (basic) indices of concentration most frequently applied in the countries with developed market economies. Estimation of competitive environment in the banking sector of the Russian Federation is given with their help. Consistency of these indicators with the basic antitrust regulations is investigated. The authors show that in order to obtain the reliable results, each of available methods of monopoly power detection requires the detailed market analysis.
