Modern Trends of Regional Integration
Abstract
The article discusses changes in the geography and contents of regional trade agreements and their role in the globalization context. Free trade areas and customs unions are the subjects of particular attention. The author tries to explain the boom of bilateral trade agreements and expresses his doubt concerning the universal appropriateness of the classical Balassa' scheme of regional integration phases.
