This article analyzes the forces that stimulate and ensure the development of competition at the micro level of the economy. Promotion of competition is interpreted as a resolution of the contradiction, which manifests as the struggle between heredity, ensuring the sustainability of a species and its variability. There by it is concluded that the real generator of the evolution of competition is not a competitive rivalry. It is the change of the competitive conditions. The mechanism of action of the micro competition is that endogenous driver of change are the actions of the competitors, but their selection is exercised by the environment. The evolution of the micro competition demonstrates two trends. One trend is broadening the field of competition and the intensification of the struggle. The other is the replacement of the open struggle by competition, which involves partnership and cooperation as a factor in gaining a competitive edge. This becomes the main feature of the development of micro competition. Refs 47.
