Sustainable Development Strategy and Transition to the Green Economy: Modernization of Priorities and Rules
Abstract
In this paper, modernization of SD strategy by moving to the Green Economy as one of the main directions of shaping a new socio-economic model for the world economy in the post-crisis period is discussed. First, the authors analyze the evolution of views and conceptions concerning sustainable development. They also discuss the shape of renewed innovation-oriented policy on structures, resources and ecology during
transition to the Green Economy model. Secondly, they survey experience of the EU countries in this field and especially the Netherlands, which is one of the world leaders in introducing Green Economy conceptions. Without doubt, this experience is valuable for Russia. Th irdly, they make an attempt to appraise the strategy of sustainable and ecologically secure socio-economic development which was implemented in Russia, which is seen as an element of stabilization and modernization policy. The paper is finished by characterizing the remaining barriers on the way to innovative, ecology-oriented and competitive Green Economy in Russia.
