World Economic Crisis, Responsibility of Scientists and Drivers of Economic Science Development
Abstract
The article analyzes some tendencies in the development of economic science for the previous 20 years, which impact on outbreak of the economic crisis and its further deepening cannot be denied. The authors are convinced that preventing of such deep future crises requires sustainable development of the society which is to be supported by the science community. Sustainable development means that the society is to follow a development trajectory based on principles of justice, respect and responsibility to variety of the present and to opportunities of the future life. Transformation to sustainable development of the society needs appropriate measurement instruments as, for instance, macroeconomic indices of sustainable welfare proposed by the Nobel Prize winner James Tobin. The recent economic science history shows that neither academic school should keep a monopole position. Pluralism and respect between the mayor disciplines modeling both real and financial dimensions of economic life should be reestablished.
