The Concept of the Property-right Hierarchy: the Case of Natural Resources
Abstract
The article deals with the research and applied interdependence between the development of the institutional analysis, especially property-right theory, and the natural resources domain. Taking into account some historical stages of this development the main attention in the article is paid on the modern state of such rather fruitful interconnection. Among different branches and directions of the institutional theory the author concentrates on the property rights and their modernizations under ecological and natural resources challenge. The author analyses the problems of the property-right hierarchy, «nested» institutions, the foundations of alternative institutional structures and their choice with the help of transaction cost criteria. All these problems are estimated as having significant importance for the modern Russian situation.
