Stimulating Demand for Innovation: Institutional and Organizational Drivers
Abstract
The authors identify several important factors which hinder Russia’s ambitions to play a more signifi cant role on the innovation markets (technological, products, services, others). Firstly, the low level of understanding of the innovation pulling power of the demand by some scholars, especially by the advocates of the «technology-push», secondly, the obsolete attitudes of the big business players (including stateowned enterprises) which neglect cooperation with the SME and, thirdly, the insufficient focus on the innovation demand in the government radical structural reforms seem to be substantial obstacles of the innovation growth.
The authors provide a detailed analysis of the structure of innovation, the methodological approaches to the innovation demand, the new governmental initiatives to strengthen the demand for innovation, businesses’ reactions to the latter and the prosperity of the population.
