Corporate Social Responsibility: Evolution of Theoretical Views
Abstract
The article summarizes the discussion of problems associated with corporate social responsibility (CSR) during the last 60 years. It discusses the results and directions for further research in this area. The author offers to study CSR conceptualization, operationalization, instrumentalization, professionalization and institutionalization processes as it is most important from theoretical and practical points of views.
The author concludes that, at the end of XX — beginning of XXI century, a radical transformation of views on the nature and content of CSR took place: from the interpretation of CSR as a complementary to the core business philanthropy to the justifi cation of its role as an integral part of corporate strategy, the factor of long-term company’s competitive advantage and corporate sustainability.
